This price was achieved in the auction Paintings, Drawings and Watercolours at Sothebys in Amsterdam and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of EUR 1,600.00 many times over. Admittedly, works by Matthieu Wiegman have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Avondlandschap met geitjes in November 2005 with an auction result of EUR 24,000.00.
