Auction result well in line with expectations
In June 2012 Christies in Paris held the auction Tableaux anciens et du XIXe siècle, which included the work Sous-bois avec un hérisson, un lézard et une souris by Matthias Withoos. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of EUR 30,000.00 – 50,000.00, the actual price achieved of EUR 32,200.00 could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Matthias Withoos - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Landscape With Drugged Birds In The Flower And Underbrush Of The Wood, which sold at auction in May 2021 for USD 151,200.00 (€ 123,995.41).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juni 2012 führte Christies in Paris die Auktion Tableaux anciens et du XIXe siècle durch, in der auch die Arbeit Sous-bois avec un hérisson, un lézard et une souris von Matthias Withoos zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von EUR 30.000,00 – 50.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von EUR 32.200,00 konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Matthias Withoos mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Landscape With Drugged Birds In The Flower And Underbrush Of The Wood beobachtet, die im Mai 2021 für USD 151.200,00 (€ 123.995,41) versteigert wurde.
