Auction result well in line with expectations

In May 2001 Christies in Amsterdam held the auction OLD MASTER PICTURES, which included the work Shepherds and their flock by a well in an Italianate landscape by Matthias Withoos. It changed hands for a price of NLG 14,100.00 (€ 6,792.35) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of NLG 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Matthias Withoos achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Landscape With Drugged Birds In The Flower And Underbrush Of The Wood in May 2021 with an auction result of USD 151,200.00 (€ 123,995.41).

Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen

Im Mai 2001 führte Christies in Amsterdam die Auktion OLD MASTER PICTURES durch, in der auch die Arbeit Shepherds and their flock by a well in an Italianate landscape von Matthias Withoos zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von NLG 14.100,00 (€ 6.792,35) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von NLG 10.000,00 – 15.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Matthias Withoos erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Landscape With Drugged Birds In The Flower And Underbrush Of The Wood im Mai 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 151.200,00 (€ 123.995,41).
