In December 2005 Christies in London held the auction Old Master Pictures & Drawings, which included the work An Italianate landscape with a herdsman with his flock and donkey and a woman on a horse by Matthias Withoos. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,920.00 (€ 2,786.77), 28% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Matthias Withoos achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Landscape With Drugged Birds In The Flower And Underbrush Of The Wood in May 2021 with an auction result of USD 151,200.00 (€ 123,995.41).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 28 % übertroffen
Im Dezember 2005 führte Christies in London die Auktion Old Master Pictures & Drawings durch, in der auch die Arbeit An Italianate landscape with a herdsman with his flock and donkey and a woman on a horse von Matthias Withoos zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 1.920,00 (€ 2.786,77) und damit 28% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Matthias Withoos erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Landscape With Drugged Birds In The Flower And Underbrush Of The Wood im Mai 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 151.200,00 (€ 123.995,41).
