Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Dragonfly and Plants by Maruyama Oshin was auctioned at Christies in London in June 2003, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 1,800.00 – 2,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 1,673.00 (€ 2,404.19). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Maruyama Oshin - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Flowers and grasses of the four seasons, which sold at auction in March 2012 for USD 12,500.00 (€ 9,374.53).
