Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2006 Christies in London held the auction Maritime Pictures, which included the work The Diamond Jubilee Fleet Review of 1897 by Martyn Richardson Mackrill. The price achieved of GBP 1,200.00 (€ 1,751.61) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Martyn Richardson Mackrill achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Valkyrie (III) leading His Majesty's yacht Britannia off Hunter's Quay, during the Clyde Regatta, 1895 in May 2004 with an auction result of GBP 26,290.00 (€ 39,444.68).
