This artwork by Martyn Richardson Mackrill achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in London in April last year. In the The Marine Sale auction, the work 30 linear raters racing on the Solent sold for GBP 2,805.00 (€ 3,344.86) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Martyn Richardson Mackrill achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Valkyrie (III) leading His Majesty's yacht Britannia off Hunter's Quay, during the Clyde Regatta, 1895 in May 2004 with an auction result of GBP 26,290.00 (€ 39,444.68).
