Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Martin Wong achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Hong Kong in May 2021. In the 20th and 21st Century Art Evening Sale auction, the work Vertigo sold for HKD 3,250,000.00 (€ 343,550.11) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 1,500,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Martin Wong - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Quong Yuen Shing & Co., which sold at auction in May last year for USD 1,260,375.00 (€ 1,174,517.75).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Martin Wong erzielte im Mai 2021 bei Christies in Hong Kong einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion 20th and 21st Century Art Evening Sale wurde die Arbeit Vertigo für HKD 3.250.000,00 (€ 343.550,11) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von HKD 1.500.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Martin Wong mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Quong Yuen Shing & Co. beobachtet, die im Mai letzten Jahres für USD 1.260.375,00 (€ 1.174.517,75) versteigert wurde.
