Auction result misses estimated price range
In May 2009 a collector was able to acquire the work British Limelight by Martin Stainforth for AUD 4,800.00 (€ 2,716.01). This price was achieved in the auction Important Australian Art at Sothebys in Melbourne and was even below the estimate range of AUD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00 set by the auction house. Admittedly, works by Martin Stainforth have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work British Carbine in November 2007 with an auction result of AUD 30,000.00 (€ 18,071.90).
