The work The lion hunter by Martin Stainforth was sold in the BRITISH AND VICTORIAN PAINTINGS, INCLUDING SCOTTISH PICTURES auction at Christies in London in March 2001. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,880.00 (€ 3,033.57), 57% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Martin Stainforth have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work British Carbine in November 2007 with an auction result of AUD 30,000.00 (€ 18,071.90).

Die Arbeit The lion hunter von Martin Stainforth wurde im März 2001 in der Auktion BRITISH AND VICTORIAN PAINTINGS, INCLUDING SCOTTISH PICTURES bei Christies in London versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 1.880,00 (€ 3.033,57) und damit 57% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Martin Stainforth auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit British Carbine im November 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 30.000,00 (€ 18.071,90).
