Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2021 Sothebys in New York held the auction Important Prints & Multiples: Part II, which included the work Cane by Martin Puryear. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 4,410.00 (€ 3,817.52) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Martin Puryear achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work without title in May 2014 with an auction result of USD 1,805,000.00 (€ 1,323,313.78).
