Upper estimated price slightly exceeded

Here, the upper estimate of USD 70,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 75,000.00 (€ 71,009.28). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Martin Johnson Heade achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Great Florida Sunset in November 2015 with an auction result of USD 5,850,000.00 (€ 5,538,723.73).

Die Arbeit Florida Sunset: A Study von Martin Johnson Heade kam im November 2015 bei Sothebys in New York zur Auktion. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von USD 70.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für USD 75.000,00 (€ 71.009,28) einen neuen Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Martin Johnson Heade erzielen.
