Auction result misses estimated price range
In November last year a collector was able to acquire the work Untitled (Black and Blue Butterfly Diptych) by Mark Grotjahn for USD 220,500.00 (€ 213,600.70). This price was achieved in the auction Post-War & Contemporary Art Day Sale at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 250,000.00 – 350,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Mark Grotjahn achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Untitled (S III Released to France Face 43.14) in May 2017 with an auction result of USD 16,767,500.00 (€ 14,923,015.31).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im November letzten Jahres konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Untitled (Black and Blue Butterfly Diptych) von Mark Grotjahn für USD 220.500,00 (€ 213.600,70) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion Post-War & Contemporary Art Day Sale bei Christies in New York erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von USD 250.000,00 – 350.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Mark Grotjahn erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Untitled (S III Released to France Face 43.14) im Mai 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 16.767.500,00 (€ 14.923.015,31).
