Auction result misses estimated price range
In December 2011 a collector was able to acquire the work A Private Club in Miami, Fla., c. 1940 by Marion Post Wolcott for USD 750.00 (€ 578.12). This price was achieved in the auction Photographs Including Crossing America: Photographs from The Consolidated Freightways Collection, Part II at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 1,000.00 – 1,500.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Marion Post Wolcott achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Vegetable pickers, migrants, waiting after work to be paid, near Homestead, Florida, Feb 1939 in October 2021 with an auction result of USD 21,420.00 (€ 18,542.24).
