Despite a disappointment, a good price for Mario Avati
This work of art by Mario Avati could be acquired at Christies in New York in February 2003 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Prints and Multiples auction, the work Manières Noires, Nice, Éditions D'art de Francony, and Tokyo, Gallery Mikimoto, 1978 changed hands for USD 1,075.50 (€ 997.77) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 1,800.00 – 2,200.00. Despite this disappointing result, Manières Noires, Nice, Éditions D'art de Francony, and Tokyo, Gallery Mikimoto, 1978 is the most expensive artwork by Mario Avati that we have observed at auction so far.
