In January 2008 Christies in New York held the auction Maritime Art Including Fine Paintings, Nautical Antiques, Scrimshaw And Ship Models, which included the work The Charles M. Watts at sea by Edouard Adam. The auction ended at the price of USD 10,000.00 (€ 6,738.09), which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of USD 7,000.00 – 10,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, The Charles M. Watts at sea is the most expensive artwork by Edouard Adam that we have observed at auctions so far.
