This artwork by Mariano Fortuny achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in June 2006. In the 19th Century European Art Including Orientalist and Spanish Art auction, the work Old Man sold for GBP 7,800.00 (€ 11,286.47) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 3,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Mariano Fortuny achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Spanish arabe Delante De Un Tapiz (Arab Before A Tapestry) in May 2011 with an auction result of GBP 735,650.00 (€ 841,218.03).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Mariano Fortuny erzielte im Juni 2006 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion 19th Century European Art Including Orientalist and Spanish Art wurde die Arbeit Old Man für GBP 7.800,00 (€ 11.286,47) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 3.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Mariano Fortuny erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Spanish arabe Delante De Un Tapiz (Arab Before A Tapestry) im Mai 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 735.650,00 (€ 841.218,03).
