Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Dos Estudios: Hojas; Caballos Con Figuras (Two Studies: Foliage; Horses And Figures) by Mariano Fortuny was sold in the 19th Century Paintings including Spanish Painting and Symbolism & the Poetic Vision auction at Sothebys in London in November 2007. The price achieved of GBP 5,625.00 (€ 7,876.46) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 5,000.00 – 7,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Mariano Fortuny achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Spanish arabe Delante De Un Tapiz (Arab Before A Tapestry) in May 2011 with an auction result of GBP 735,650.00 (€ 841,218.03).
