Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Australian Afternoon (Chinese Screen And Yellow Room) by Margaret Olley was sold in the Important Paintings auction at Sothebys in Sydney in April 2008. The price achieved of AUD 72,000.00 (€ 43,561.66) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as AUD 60,000.00 – 80,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Margaret Olley - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Hawkesbury Wildflowers and Pears I, 1973, which sold at auction in November 2021 for AUD 159,900.00 (€ 141,667.40).
