Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Two Capricci Landscapes: A Man And A Woman By A Stream With A Farmhouse In The Background (I); Farmers And Cattle By A River (Ii) by Marco Ricci was auctioned at Christies in New York in October last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 30,000.00 – 40,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 17,640.00 (€ 17,757.20). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Marco Ricci achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work An Opera Rehearsal in July 2021 with an auction result of GBP 475,000.00 (€ 557,035.99).
