Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2004 Christies in London held the auction British and Victorian Paintings, which included the work Portrait of James Macardell (1729-1765), bust-length, in a brown jacket and red cloak, holding a porte-crayon in his right hand by Marcellus Laroon II. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 1,500.00 – 2,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 1,553.50 (€ 2,330.82) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Marcellus Laroon II achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A bird snarer in July 2011 with an auction result of GBP 34,850.00 (€ 39,995.59).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Mai 2004 führte Christies in London die Auktion British and Victorian Paintings durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait of James Macardell (1729-1765), bust-length, in a brown jacket and red cloak, holding a porte-crayon in his right hand von Marcellus Laroon II zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 1.500,00 – 2.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 1.553,50 (€ 2.330,82) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Marcellus Laroon II erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A bird snarer im Juli 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 34.850,00 (€ 39.995,59).
