In December 2008 Sothebys in London held the auction Early British Drawings, Watercolours and Portrait Miniatures, which included the work Figure Drawings by Marcellus Laroon II. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 6,875.00 (€ 7,220.75), 72% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Marcellus Laroon II have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A bird snarer in July 2011 with an auction result of GBP 34,850.00 (€ 39,995.59).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 72 % übertroffen
Im Dezember 2008 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Early British Drawings, Watercolours and Portrait Miniatures durch, in der auch die Arbeit Figure Drawings von Marcellus Laroon II zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 6.875,00 (€ 7.220,75) und damit 72% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Marcellus Laroon II auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A bird snarer im Juli 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 34.850,00 (€ 39.995,59).
