Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Les animaux de la ferme (The Farm Animals) by Marcel Broodthaers was auctioned at Phillips in London in September this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 3,810.00 (€ 3,810.00). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Marcel Broodthaers achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Surface de moules (avec sac) (Surface of mussels (with bag)) in June 2012 with an auction result of GBP 433,250.00 (€ 536,466.65).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Les animaux de la ferme (The Farm Animals) von Marcel Broodthaers im September diesen Jahres bei Phillips in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 3.810,00 (€ 3.810,00) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Marcel Broodthaers erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Surface de moules (avec sac) (Surface of mussels (with bag)) im Juni 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 433.250,00 (€ 536.466,65).
