This artwork by Marcantonio Raimondi achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in September 2011. In the Old Master, Modern & Contemporary Prints, including Property from the Estate of Ernst Beyeler auction, the work Vulcan, Venus and Eros (B. 326) sold for GBP 11,875.00 (€ 13,795.45) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 6,000.00. Admittedly, works by Marcantonio Raimondi have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A standing nude holding a veil in January 2001 with an auction result of USD 70,500.00 (€ 75,741.30).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 98 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Marcantonio Raimondi erzielte im September 2011 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Old Master, Modern & Contemporary Prints, including Property from the Estate of Ernst Beyeler wurde die Arbeit Vulcan, Venus and Eros (B. 326) für GBP 11.875,00 (€ 13.795,45) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 6.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Marcantonio Raimondi auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A standing nude holding a veil im Januar 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 70.500,00 (€ 75.741,30).
