engraving, circa 1515-25, on laid paper, without watermark, a fine impression of this rare print, trimmed inside the platemark but retaining a fillet of blank paper outside the borderline, a short, backed tear at the upper sheet edge at left, the sheet toned and very thinly backed with a layer of paper fibres, otherwise in good condition

Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Alexander preserving the Works of Homer by Marcantonio Raimondi was sold in the Old Master Prints auction at Christies in London in December 2019. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 1,500.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 1,625.00 (€ 1,920.56). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Marcantonio Raimondi achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A standing nude holding a veil in January 2001 with an auction result of USD 70,500.00 (€ 75,741.30).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit Alexander preserving the Works of Homer von Marcantonio Raimondi wurde im Dezember 2019 in der Auktion Old Master Prints bei Christies in London versteigert. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 1.500,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 1.625,00 (€ 1.920,56) einen neuen Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Marcantonio Raimondi erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A standing nude holding a veil im Januar 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 70.500,00 (€ 75.741,30).
