Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Image Of Paternalism With Brown Door by Mao Xuhui was sold in the Contemporary Art – Day Sale auction at Sothebys in Hong Kong in October 2017. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of HKD 800,000.00 – 1,200,000.00, the actual price achieved of HKD 850,000.00 (€ 93,552.54) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Mao Xuhui achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work '92 Paternalism in November 2010 with an auction result of HKD 11,860,000.00 (€ 1,171,807.30).
