Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Ro pe by Mao Lizi was sold in the Asian And Western 20th Century & Contemporary Art (Evening Sale) auction at Christies in Shanghai in October 2015. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of CNY 180,000.00 – 380,000.00, the actual price achieved of CNY 225,000.00 (€ 32,256.38) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Mao Lizi achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work without title in May 2015 with an auction result of HKD 3,880,000.00 (€ 455,266.51).
