Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Still life of fruit and flowers, Signed and dated M by Malthe Engelsted was auctioned at Bruun Rasmussen in January 2024, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of DKK 3,000.00 – 4,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for DKK 1,500.00 (€ 1,310.96). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Malthe Engelsted - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Afternoon frolics, which sold at auction in November 2002 for GBP 1,762.50 (€ 2,759.98).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Still life of fruit and flowers, Signed and dated M von Malthe Engelsted im Januar 2024 bei Bruun Rasmussen versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von DKK 3.000,00 – 4.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für DKK 1.500,00 (€ 1.310,96) den Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Malthe Engelsted mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Afternoon frolics beobachtet, die im November 2002 für GBP 1.762,50 (€ 2.759,98) versteigert wurde.
