The work La Mise Au Tombeau (The Entombment) by Mahmoud Saïd was sold in the Modern and Contemporary Middle Eastern Art including On The Banks of the NileA Journey Through Egyptian Art auction at Bonhams in London in May last year. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 630,300.00 (€ 741,487.95), 26% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Mahmoud Saïd - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Whirling Dervishes, which sold at auction in October 2010 for USD 2,546,500.00 (€ 1,832,805.53).

Die Arbeit La Mise Au Tombeau (The Entombment) von Mahmoud Saïd wurde im Mai letzten Jahres in der Auktion Modern and Contemporary Middle Eastern Art including On The Banks of the NileA Journey Through Egyptian Art bei Bonhams in London versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 630.300,00 (€ 741.487,95) und damit 26% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Mahmoud Saïd mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Whirling Dervishes beobachtet, die im Oktober 2010 für USD 2.546.500,00 (€ 1.832.805,53) versteigert wurde.
