Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
When the work Worship Of The Rock by Ma Tai was auctioned at Sothebys in Hong Kong in April 2013, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - HKD 120,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at HKD 375,000.00 (€ 36,708.31). Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Ma Tai; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Deer sold at auction in April 2012 with the realized price of HKD 740,000.00 (€ 72,103.71).
Kunstwerk zum Dreifachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Worship Of The Rock von Ma Tai im April 2013 bei Sothebys in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – HKD 120.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit HKD 375.000,00 (€ 36.708,31) mehr als dreimal so hoch. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Ma Tai; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Deer im April 2012 mit dem Hammerpreis von HKD 740.000,00 (€ 72.103,71).
