Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Broad Strokes by Ma Desheng was auctioned at Sothebys in Hong Kong in January 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of HKD 100,000.00 – 150,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for HKD 88,200.00 (€ 9,376.02). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ma Desheng achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work United Symphony in November 2011 with an auction result of HKD 1,040,000.00 (€ 99,493.05).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Broad Strokes von Ma Desheng im Januar 2021 bei Sothebys in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von HKD 100.000,00 – 150.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für HKD 88.200,00 (€ 9.376,02) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Ma Desheng erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit United Symphony im November 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 1.040.000,00 (€ 99.493,05).
