This artwork by Lyonel Feininger achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in November last year. In the Impressionist & Modern Works on Paper Sale auction, the work Ship sold for USD 88,200.00 (€ 85,440.28) - well above the upper estimate of USD 30,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Lyonel Feininger achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Jesuiten Iii (Jesuits Iii) in May 2007 with an auction result of USD 23,280,000.00 (€ 17,304,690.40).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Lyonel Feininger erzielte im November letzten Jahres bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Impressionist & Modern Works on Paper Sale wurde die Arbeit Ship für USD 88.200,00 (€ 85.440,28) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 30.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Lyonel Feininger erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Jesuiten Iii (Jesuits Iii) im Mai 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 23.280.000,00 (€ 17.304.690,40).
