This artwork by Luis Meléndez achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in June 2011. In the Old Master Paintings auction, the work Still Life With Peaches, Pears And Grapes sold for USD 614,500.00 (€ 423,121.94) - well above the upper estimate of USD 300,000.00. Admittedly, works by Luis Meléndez have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Oranges, nuts, spices, boxes of sweetmeats, a jug and a cask on a table in February 2012 with an auction result of GBP 3,513,250.00 (€ 4,194,913.60).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Luis Meléndez erzielte im Juni 2011 bei Sothebys in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Old Master Paintings wurde die Arbeit Still Life With Peaches, Pears And Grapes für USD 614.500,00 (€ 423.121,94) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 300.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Luis Meléndez auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Oranges, nuts, spices, boxes of sweetmeats, a jug and a cask on a table im Februar 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 3.513.250,00 (€ 4.194.913,60).
