Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Still Life With Cucumbers And Tomatoes Together With A Knife And Other Kitchen Utensils Upon A Wooden Table by Luis Meléndez was sold in the Old Master and British Paintings Evening Sale auction at Sothebys in London in July 2010. The price achieved of GBP 361,250.00 (€ 434,362.42) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 300,000.00 – 500,000.00. Admittedly, works by Luis Meléndez have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Oranges, nuts, spices, boxes of sweetmeats, a jug and a cask on a table in February 2012 with an auction result of GBP 3,513,250.00 (€ 4,194,913.60).
