Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Still Life With A Plate Of Apricots, Cherries, Bread, A Wine Cooler And Receptacles by Luis Meléndez was auctioned at Sothebys in London in December 2019. The price achieved of GBP 735,000.00 (€ 868,683.98) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 600,000.00 – 800,000.00. Admittedly, works by Luis Meléndez have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Oranges, nuts, spices, boxes of sweetmeats, a jug and a cask on a table in February 2012 with an auction result of GBP 3,513,250.00 (€ 4,194,913.60).

Die Arbeit Still Life With A Plate Of Apricots, Cherries, Bread, A Wine Cooler And Receptacles von Luis Meléndez kam im Dezember 2019 bei Sothebys in London zur Auktion. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 735.000,00 (€ 868.683,98) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 600.000,00 – 800.000,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Luis Meléndez auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Oranges, nuts, spices, boxes of sweetmeats, a jug and a cask on a table im Februar 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 3.513.250,00 (€ 4.194.913,60).
