This artwork by Louis Ritman achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in July last year. In the Modern Discoveries auction, the work Man and Woman in a Garden sold for USD 75,600.00 (€ 74,103.12) - well above the upper estimate of USD 30,000.00. Admittedly, works by Louis Ritman have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work In the Garden in November 2011 with an auction result of USD 542,500.00 (€ 403,255.78).
