The work The Centaur Chiron Instructing Achilles by Louis-Jean-François Lagrenée was sold in the Master Paintings & Sculpture Day Sale auction at Sothebys in New York in January 2017. It changed hands for a price of USD 56,250.00 (€ 52,112.28) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00. Admittedly, works by Louis-Jean-François Lagrenée have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Charles And Ubalde, Surrounded By Nymphs On Their Way To Rescue Renaud From The Palais D'Armide in February 2018 with an auction result of USD 325,000.00 (€ 266,153.47).
