Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Venus landing on the island of Paphos, in the presence of Jupiter, Neptune and other gods by Louis Chéron was auctioned at Christies in London in December 2000. The price achieved of GBP 1,645.00 (€ 2,620.47) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 1,200.00 – 1,800.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Louis Chéron achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Sketch For A Wall And A Ceiling Decoration With Apollo In His Chariot And Apollo Pursuing Daphne in June 2001 with an auction result of GBP 17,625.00 (€ 29,278.63).
