The work Tobias and the Angel by Louis Chéron was sold in the Old Master and British Drawings and Watercolours auction at Christies in London in July this year. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 15,750.00 (€ 18,375.48), 58% above the upper estimate. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Louis Chéron; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot A Sketch For A Wall And A Ceiling Decoration With Apollo In His Chariot And Apollo Pursuing Daphne sold at auction in June 2001 with the realized price of GBP 17,625.00 (€ 29,278.63).
