Auction result well in line with expectations
In January 2015 Sothebys in New York held the auction Master Paintings and Sculpture: Part II, which included the work Venus And Adonis by Lodovico Cardi da Cigoli. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 43,750.00 (€ 38,751.11) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Lodovico Cardi da Cigoli - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Apparition of Christ to Saint Peter, which sold at auction in July 2008 for GBP 79,250.00 (€ 100,688.02).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Januar 2015 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Master Paintings and Sculpture: Part II durch, in der auch die Arbeit Venus And Adonis von Lodovico Cardi da Cigoli zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 40.000,00 – 60.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 43.750,00 (€ 38.751,11) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Lodovico Cardi da Cigoli mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Apparition of Christ to Saint Peter beobachtet, die im Juli 2008 für GBP 79.250,00 (€ 100.688,02) versteigert wurde.
