Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Penitent Magdalene by Lodovico Cardi da Cigoli was sold in the Important Old Master Paintings & Sculpture auction at Sothebys in New York in January 2011. The price achieved of USD 34,375.00 (€ 25,063.80) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 30,000.00 – 40,000.00. Admittedly, works by Lodovico Cardi da Cigoli have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Apparition of Christ to Saint Peter in July 2008 with an auction result of GBP 79,250.00 (€ 100,688.02).
