Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Recto: Study Of A Male Nude, Walking; Verso: Studies Of Nudes by Lodovico Cardi da Cigoli was sold in the Old Master Drawings auction at Sothebys in New York in January 2020. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 8,125.00 (€ 7,324.44) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Lodovico Cardi da Cigoli achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Apparition of Christ to Saint Peter in July 2008 with an auction result of GBP 79,250.00 (€ 100,688.02).
