In May 2017 Christies in Hong Kong held the auction Fine Chinese Modern Paintings, which included the work When the Wind Settles by Liu Mengkuan. The »bidding war« ended at HKD 43,750.00 (€ 4,995.66), 25% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Liu Mengkuan have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Majestic Landscape of Mount Huang in November 2018 with an auction result of HKD 325,000.00 (€ 36,681.97).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 25 % übertroffen
Im Mai 2017 führte Christies in Hong Kong die Auktion Fine Chinese Modern Paintings durch, in der auch die Arbeit When the Wind Settles von Liu Mengkuan zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von HKD 43.750,00 (€ 4.995,66) und damit 25% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Liu Mengkuan auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Majestic Landscape of Mount Huang im November 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 325.000,00 (€ 36.681,97).
