He Man’an, born in Panyu, Guangdong Province, was an important collector of Chinese paintings and calligraphy in the region of Lingnan. The name of his studio was Lingbi Shanfang and he was especially fond of collecting works by artists in the Lingnan region.

Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Lin Zhimian achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Hong Kong in November 2018. In the Exquisite Eye: Chinese Paintings Online auction, the work Five-character Calligraphic Couplet in Clerical Script sold for HKD 35,000.00 (€ 3,950.37) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 12,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Lin Zhimian - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Calligraphy Couplet In Lishu, which sold at auction in April 2016 for HKD 81,250.00 (€ 9,154.03).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Lin Zhimian erzielte im November 2018 bei Christies in Hong Kong einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Exquisite Eye: Chinese Paintings Online wurde die Arbeit Five-character Calligraphic Couplet in Clerical Script für HKD 35.000,00 (€ 3.950,37) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von HKD 12.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Lin Zhimian mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Calligraphy Couplet In Lishu beobachtet, die im April 2016 für HKD 81.250,00 (€ 9.154,03) versteigert wurde.
