This price was achieved in the auction Chinese Painting and Calligraphy from the Four Seas at China Guardian in Hong Kong and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of HKD 12,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Liang Shiqiu; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Calligraphy sold at auction in May 2013 with the realized price of HKD 525,000.00 (€ 52,063.44).
