Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Calligraphy Couplet In Running Script by Li Wentian was auctioned at Bonhams in Hong Kong in June 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of HKD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for HKD 4,462.50 (€ 484.74). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Li Wentian achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Calligraphy Couplet In Kaishu in October 2013 with an auction result of HKD 200,000.00 (€ 18,978.96).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Calligraphy Couplet In Running Script von Li Wentian im Juni 2021 bei Bonhams in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von HKD 20.000,00 – 30.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für HKD 4.462,50 (€ 484,74) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Li Wentian erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Calligraphy Couplet In Kaishu im Oktober 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 200.000,00 (€ 18.978,96).
