Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In May 2019 Christies in Hong Kong held the auction Exquisite Eye: Chinese Paintings Online, which included the work Calligraphic Couplet by Li Wentian. The »bidding war« ended at HKD 30,000.00 (€ 3,433.49), 20% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Li Wentian have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Calligraphy Couplet In Kaishu in October 2013 with an auction result of HKD 200,000.00 (€ 18,978.96).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Mai 2019 führte Christies in Hong Kong die Auktion Exquisite Eye: Chinese Paintings Online durch, in der auch die Arbeit Calligraphic Couplet von Li Wentian zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von HKD 30.000,00 (€ 3.433,49) und damit 20% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Li Wentian auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Calligraphy Couplet In Kaishu im Oktober 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 200.000,00 (€ 18.978,96).
