Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Things Fall Apart: Young Woman From Mali (African Series); And A Companion Work by Lezley Saar was auctioned at Christies in Hong Kong in December 2014, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 500.00 (€ 413.19). Admittedly, works by Lezley Saar have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Things Fall Apart: Young Woman From Mali signed and dated 'Lezley Saar '99' (on the reverse) acrylic and fabric laid down on plywood in artist frame 24 x 18 in. (61 x 45.7 cm.) Executed in 1999. Things Fall Apart: Man with Nkrumah Haircut (African in June 2008 with an auction result of USD 6,000.00 (€ 3,810.01).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Things Fall Apart: Young Woman From Mali (African Series); And A Companion Work von Lezley Saar im Dezember 2014 bei Christies in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 5.000,00 – 7.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 500,00 (€ 413,19) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Lezley Saar auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Things Fall Apart: Young Woman From Mali signed and dated 'Lezley Saar '99' (on the reverse) acrylic and fabric laid down on plywood in artist frame 24 x 18 in.
