In November 2007 Christies in New York held the auction Important American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture, which included the work The Finish of the Kermesse by Leon Shulman Gaspard. The »bidding war« ended at USD 2,001,000.00 (€ 1,362,336.60), 67% above the upper estimate. This high result makes The Finish of the Kermesse the most expensive artwork by Leon Shulman Gaspard that we have observed at auctions so far.
