Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2016 Christies in New York held the auction American Art, which included the work New Year's Day Celebration in Smolensk by Leon Shulman Gaspard. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 150,000.00 – 250,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 173,000.00 (€ 155,365.96) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Leon Shulman Gaspard have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Finish of the Kermesse in November 2007 with an auction result of USD 2,001,000.00 (€ 1,362,336.60).
